PMU
What is SPMU or PMU?
Semi-permanent make-up, also referred to permanent makeup, paramedic cosmetics or micro pigmentation, is a semi-permanent tattoo placed in the very topmost layers of the skin and unlike conventional tattoos, uses pharmaceutical grade pigments designed to lessen and fade over time.
Utilising digital computerised machines, disposable single use tools and a combination of clinical and artistic approach we can simulate every facial feature from hair follicle stubble on the human scalp to a single human eyebrow hair.
People who benefit include those:
With sparse thin or no eyelashes or eyebrows. With scars through eyebrow or lash line or lip. With poor vision or an unsteady hand.
With allergy to conventional cosmetics. With hay-fever or sensitive or watery eyes. With a busy schedule and little time to worry about make-up. With adverse conditions affecting skin pigment
What To Expect
You may attend the clinic for a design consultation before you commit to the procedure, or you might want to have the design consultation and procedure all on the same day.
Either way is fine with us. You will want to allow two to two and half hours of your time. We advise no aspirin or alcohol for 48 hours before treatment and no excessive drinking of water on the day.
With the lip procedure we ask every client if they have any history of cold sore/ sun blisters – if so we advise using Zovirax for a few days before treatment and for a few days after.
With eyeliner procedures you will need to come to the clinic an hour before your appointment and have us apply the topical anaesthetic/ numbing agent.
With brow and lip procedures you can do the same, or you may want to come and collect a small amount from us at no charge and apply yourself at home saving yourself an hour waiting time in the clinic.
You may also want to attend the clinic for a patch test if you are concerned about sensitivity. Or you may sign a patch test waiver on the day and simply proceed without.
Consultation
The consultation involves you and your specialist discussing in detail your requirements, wants, needs and expectations.
Colour, shape, form and contour options are thoroughly explored and the desired results agreed upon. Before and after photographs are always included for insurance and reference purposes.
With brows there is a set and recognised proportional graph I like to draw on the face using reference points, angles and measurements individual to us all.
After drawing the basics, we work together to perfect the right brows for you.
Similarly with lips and eyes everything is drawn and designed before we start, making sure we both agree on the visual reference, shape, design, contour and colour.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is to inform educate and reassure, giving you all the information and understanding you need to make a fully informed well balanced decision.
Procedure
The procedure itself is very straight forward taking only about forty five minutes.
Additional topical anaesthetics are constantly used throughout making sure your comfort levels are well maintained.
Clinical environment is well observed with sterile field and disposable individual treatment packs, including disposable single use procedure tools.
Aftercare
We advise no strenuous activity for the remainder of the day, and by strenuous activity that means anything that makes you sweat. You leave the clinic with after care advise information and we supply you with an aftercare oil.
